The 3rd video in Wenzel America’s eight part series from its Metrology Matters Live event in June has just been released this week.  Focusing on the dynamic 5-axis scanning measurement technology of Renishaw’s REVO probe head mounted on the LH 108 CMM, the video shows how this unique system delivers precision measurements for aerospace turbine and large-bore cylinder manufacturers beyond the results of any other metrology technology.

August 8th, 2015 · Wixom, Michigan – Wenzel America continues its 7-Systems Analysis educational video series with its third video in the eight part series taken from its Metrology Matters Live event.

In the video, Regional Vice President, Steve Cormier describes the dynamic 5-axis measurement capabilities of the all granite LH 108 CMM frame coupled with Renishaw’s REVO probe head and why it is the ideal measurement system for aerospace turbines and large-bore cylinders.

The video highlights how the REVO combines a touch probe with the speed and precision of laser measurement to produce a unique high-speed, dynamic 5-axis scan that no other probe can match. The LH108/REVO system is ideally suited to aerospace turbine blades, which due to their fine trailing edges and unique contours can’t be measured accurately by any typical probe scanning method.

“No one has anything like it, Renishaw is the only manufacturer of this type of scanning head,” Mr. Cormier said, “It’s a true 5-axis measuring probe.”

“Most probes can measure in 5-axes but not dynamically, like the REVO.”

Along with this demonstration of the REVO Renishaw probe measuring the turbine and cylinder features of a specially made 3D-printed part, Wenzel has released a downloadable white paper outlining the data of the REVO scan, along with detailed results and a Technical Scorecard showing the complete 7-systems analysis done at the Metrology Matters Live event in June.

According to Cormier, when measuring large bore cylinders or turbine blades, nothing compares to the capability and speed of the REVO Renishaw probe.

This is the second video in Wenzel America’s Technology series that will showcase each of seven measurement technologies used to measure the same 3D printed part at their summer open house.

The company has previously released a Metrology Matters Live overview video and the first in the technical series highlighting its unique CORE 3D scanning technology.
