WENZEL CORE High Speed Optical CMM
The WENZEL CORE Machine is the benchmark standard for measuring turbine blades.
Using a unique non-contact light spot technology specifically developed for the measurement of turbine blades and in use for over 20 years, the CORE machine has become the industry standard for measurement of aircraft turbine blades used by major manufactures of OEM blades across the world as well as leading MRO facilities.
The CORE D machine measures using a high intensity light spot that is observed by cameras as it traverses the surface of the blade driven by 3D CAD. The light sensor is mounted on a highly accurate 5 axis WENZEL CMM which unlike optical systems mounted on robots or stands is inherently accurate allowing the whole system to be calibrated to ISO 10360 standard as an optical CMM for production use.
Unlike Laser or Blue light systems CORE can measure any surface however shiny including polished mirror finishes without any need to spray a coating that would introduce uncertainty.
The systems come in different sizes to handle blades from the smallest to the longest fan blades, are shop floor hardened and expected to be run in automated production environments.
CORE is based upon a new concept of mechanical structure.
Designed and manufactured at the renowned WENZEL CMM production facility in Wiesthal, Germany CORE has an inbred pedigree of accuracy, reliability and quality. CORE`s focus is measurements on the manufacturing floor.
The fully integrated optical sensors provide the dexterity and measurement capability needed to rapidly inspect the complex geometry of today`s parts. CORE’s focus is measurements on the manufacturing floor.
The CORE construction has been FEM optimized. Linear Guide-Ways with wide bearing spreads ensure long-life and stable operation even in the production environments from 18° – 30°C. An optional Protection Cover helps with difficult light and shop floor conditions.
An integral, high resolution, direct drive Rotary Table provides synchronous part positioning to the measuring sensor further optimizing inspection cycle through a complete simultaneous 5 axies motion.
Maximum scanning speed is up to 400 mm/s across the surface of the part. CORE has a travel range of 300 x 200 x 450 mm and is optimized for measurement of turbine blades, orthopaedic implants and other small high volume quality critical manufactured parts
