WENZEL Group GmbH & Co. KG closes anniversary year with record output
The measuring technology specialist WENZEL from Wiesthal has completed the 50th year of its company history with a record output of almost 92 million € and has further improved its positive earnings situation. At over € 87 million, sales remained at the previous year’s level. In 2018, sales were distributed almost evenly across the four regions DACH, EMEA, Asia and America, thus reflecting Wenzel’s global presence. The main turnover was achieved in 2018 with Bridge Coordinate Measuring Machines, here WENZEL produces standard machines as well as customized special sizes.
“We are extremely satisfied with the new production record”, explains Managing Director Dr. Heike Wenzel “In our anniversary year we have successfully mastered significant challenges. We have laid the foundation stone for entry into the age of digitization and set the course for the coming years”.
In addition to the classical coordinate measuring machines, high-speed scanning and computed tomography products have seen a growing share of WENZEL’s total performance. The trend towards optical measurement technology is also reflected in increasing sales of optical sensors. In order to present this variety of solutions in an appropriate atmosphere, WENZEL is opening a new Solution Center on the factory premises in Wiesthal at the end of February.
WENZEL expects solid growth in the coming years, because the trend towards digitization and individualization of measurement products, means demand for these solutions will increase further. “Our strength as a family business is that we can react quickly and flexibly to customer wishes and market requirements,” says Managing Director Prof. Dr. Heiko Wenzel-Schinzer. “WENZEL focuses on the best solution for the customer. We are not fixated on the fact that we have to sell our customers all products only from our own house. For example, the combination of a WENZEL measuring machine with the REVO from Renishaw is a unique solution for many applications”.
Despite all global economic uncertainties the WENZEL Group expects an increasing turnover in 2019. The company’s focus on measurement technology in 2018 has been used by WENZEL to further develop the solution spectrum within this field. With products like the exaCT U computer tomograph or the SF 87coordinate measuring machine developed for the shop floor, WENZEL has prepared itself for the changes in its market during the course of the digitalization of the industry. This also includes numerous investments in new sensor and software solutions, which will be gradually introduced to the market by WENZEL and its partners in 2019.
